Ohio State Stays at #2 in Playoff Rankings

By Jim Baird | AM Football Briefing | Wednesday, November 30

Ohio State Stays at #2 in Playoff Rankings: As expected, Ohio State held at #2 in the latest College Football Playoff rankings, behind only undefeated Alabama. One-loss Clemson and Washington rounded out the top four, with Michigan, Wisconsin and Penn State following behind, see the full rankings here. Ohio State’s biggest obstacle to making the playoff remains the scenario where Penn State wins the Big 10 Championship and potentially jumps the Buckeyes behind a head-to-head victory and a conference championship. But committee chair Kirby Hocutt said yesterday that when comparing Ohio State and Penn State, “they are not close in the eyes of the selection committee.” Barring a Penn State blowout of Wisconsin, Ohio State’s chances of making the playoff appear extremely likely. FiveThirtyEight gives the Buckeyes a 92% chance of making the playoff and a 26% chance of winning the national title.
