BARRETT’S HESIMAN ODDS RISING; D-LINE STEPS UP, EYES TULSA
By Jim Baird | AM Football Briefing | Friday, September 9
BARRETT’S HESIMAN ODDS RISING: JT Barrett now sits at the third best odds in the nation to win the Heisman after his seven touchdown performance last weekend against Bowling Green. According to Bovada, his odds are 11-1, trailing Stanford running back Christian McCaffrey (8-1) and Clemson QB Deshaun Watson (9-to-1). Barrett entered the season with the fourth best odds, Bill Landis with more.
TULSA’S TEMPO OFFENSE ENTERS THE SHOE: Tulsa’s head coach Philip Montgomery wants to push tempo Saturday. Montgomery served as offensive coordinator for Art Briles at Baylor and his Golden Hurricane offense looks a lot like Baylor’s high-octane attack, Christopher Jason writes. Ohio State’s defense will aim to slow the pace, Tim May with more. In the middle of disrupting the attack, defensive end Jalyn Holmes is playing a big role, Bill Rabinowitz writes. And Tyquan Lewis will continue to anchor the line, writes Nicholas Piotrowicz.
